1. مَن ظَنَّ أَنَّ الدَهرَ لَيسَ يُصيبُهُ

    بِالحادِثاتِ فَإِنَّهُ مَغرورُ

    Whoever thinks that fate will not befall him

    With calamities, is surely deluded.

  2. فَاِلقَ الزَمانَ مُهوِّناً لِخُطوبِهِ

    وَاِنجَرَّ حَيثُ يَجُرُّكَ المَقدورُ

    So meet misfortune with patience and calm,

    And go where destiny takes you in its flow.

  3. وَإِذا تَقَلَّبَتِ الأُمورُ وَلَم تَدُم

    فَسَواءٌ المَحزونُ وَالمَسرورُ

    When things keep changing and do not last,

    The sad and the happy are equal in woe.
