People are all one kind, alike in form

Though deeds may set their lives apart

Some speak the truth, some falsehoods utter

In every man there is a fault

All men bear flaws, and feel distaste

    For blemishes in other's tastes

The small they magnify in another's eye

Though boasting loads of their own lies

Content, men slumber through their days

    Bewitched by worldly pleasures' haze

And tongues of men I've seen as snakes

Lashing out or lying in wait

If you avoid all idle speech

You're happiest, most blessed of each
