حَسَنَ الوَجهِ مَليح

I saw a person

With a beautiful, radiant face

لابِساً أَثوابَ سوءٍ

مِن عَباءٍ وَمُسوح

Wearing shabby clothes

Of cloaks and gowns

وَأَبيعُ الزَيتَ بَيعاً

خاسِراً غَيرَ رَبيح

And I sell oil at a loss

With no profit at all
