سُلَيمى تِلكَ في العيرِ
قِفي إِن شِئتِ أَو سيري
O Suleima, in that caravan
Stop if you wish, or keep going
فَلَمّا أَن دَنا الصُبحُ
بِأَصواتِ العَصافيرِ
When morning drew near
With the birds' voices
خَرَجنا نَتَّقي الشَمسَ
مَطايا القَومِ كَالعورِ
We went out to avoid the sun
The people's camels limping like the one-eyed
إِذا ما أَعرُضٌ حالَت
سَدَدناها بِتَصديرِ
Whenever one turned away
We guided it with encouragement
