O you who gloat at our misery
We were not harmed by what fate had decreed for us
It did not hurt us that we suffered and died
We were saved by our honor and it was enough for us
O you who feed your horses dates
While our children quench their thirst with tears
We are hungry but did not waver or equivocate
With ample provisions in their hands they disgraced us
O you who boast of your fine clothes
We are a people who prefer shrouds
No one who wears rags can claim
To be modest if they have exposed their honor
O you who trade your souls for
Greed carrying out the devil's command
We have protected our souls and sacrificed them
To safeguard our honor and homelands
