1. يا شبلُ ما هان العرين

    الارز عرض لا يهونُ

    O young lion, the den is not disgraced

    The cedars are a mountain not easily diminished

  2. ذلّت لديه الناطحا

    تُ وقد تكسرت القرون

    The high peaks bow down before it

    And though horns may break against it

  3. من قبل موسى كان وه

    و كما ترى حصنٌ حصين

    Since the days of Moses it has stood firm

    As you see, a sturdy fortress

  4. تُحييه آسادٌ مقذ

    ذَفةٌ تدين لها المنون

    Revived by brave lions

    Whose roar subdues all foes

  5. من كل ليثٍ في بشر

    ري لا يُضارعه قرين

    Among all the lions of the land

    None can match its equal

  6. وغضنفر في أرضِ كو

    لمبٍ يعزُّ به عرين

    And among the lands of Lebanon

    It is a brilliant light, pride of its den

  7. تعنو الجباه له فمن

    فوق الجبين له جبين

    Brows bow down before it

    Above its brow is another brow

  8. وله على لبنان خي

    ر يدٍ تقرُّ بها العيون

    And it holds sway over Lebanon

    A hand all eyes turn to

  9. وهو المقيم على الوفاء

    له وحارسه الأَمين

    Faithful it remains to its promise

    Its protector is the Trustworthy One

  10. أيامه غررٌ بها

    تاريخ لبنان مَزين

    Its days are jewels

    That adorn the history of Lebanon

  11. وأعزُّها يومٌ علينا

    من مفاخره ديون

    Dearest among them, a day for us

    Of pride and debt

  12. لم تشهد الفيحا له

    مثلاً ولا طوت القرون

    The ages have not seen its like

    Nor have eons borne its equal

  13. برزت به تلك الاسو

    دُ يقودها الشبل الرصين

    On it appeared that formidable army

    Led by the staunch young lion

  14. فإذا أشار لها تغي

    بُ وحين يدعوها تبين

    At its signal they stirred

    At its call, they rose up

  15. ومتى تحف به رأي

    ت الروح حفتها حصون

    Whenever it was girded with resolve

    Fortresses enveloped it

  16. وقد استلان ببأسها

    صلباء كانت لا تلين

    With its might it overpowered

    Those once thought rigid and unbending

  17. ولو أنه ممن يهو

    ن عليهم شرف ودين

    Had it been like those who delight

    In honor and faith

  18. لاقى بها صدر المجا

    لس وهو مفديٌّ مصون

    It would have met the councils

    While remaining guarded and protected

  19. يا من زعامته يقي

    دونه كبت الظنون

    O you whose leadership

    Vanquishes all doubts

  20. فداك منا المستقر

    كما يفديك الظعين

    For you we would ransom our lives

    As the zealous ransom the precious

  21. وصبا إليك النازحو

    ن فكل بثهم حنين

    Exiles pour out their lamentations to you

    For you are the precious, the invaluable

  22. نفحوك بالدر الثمين

    لأنك الغالي الثمين

    O young lion, do not reproach

    An age ruled by sorrows

  23. يا شبل لا تعتب على

    زمن يسود به الخؤون

    Fate is a jinn, and who reproaches

    One made mad by insanity?

  24. الدهر جن وهل تعا

    تب من ألم به جنون

    Patience - laughing fortune shall return

    And the sorrowful shall yet smile

  25. صبراً فسوف تقهقه الثك

    لى ويبتسم الحزين

    Misfortune's gloom shall pass away

    And good fortune's gleam shall appear

  26. ويغيب شؤم بارز

    ويضحضح السعد الكمين

    The night is ending - it shall birth

    Its burden and the dawn shall be seen

  27. قد حان تُلقى الليا

    لي حملها ويرى الجنين

    Those who never helped you -

    Let them suffer, helpless and unsupported

  28. من لم تعنه زنده

    يشقى وليس له معين

    While the sincere pour out to you

    The precious pearl - for you are precious
