1. قَد أَتانا مِن آلِ سُعدى رَسولُ

    حَبَّذا ما تَقولُ لي وَأَقولُ

    A messenger has come to us from the tribe of Sa'uda

    How excellent is what you say to me and I say

  2. مِن فَتاةٍ كَأَنَّها قَرنُ شَمسٍ

    ضاقَ عَنها دَمالِجٌ وَحُجولُ

    Of a girl like a rising sun

    Too glorious for veils or litters

  3. حَبَّذا لَيلَتي بِمَزَّةِ كَلبٍ

    غالَ عَنّي فيها الكَوانينَ غولُ

    How excellent is my night in Muzza's valley

    Where the goblets passed freely round

  4. بِتُّ أُسقى بِها وَعِندي مَصادٌ

    إِنَّهُ لي وَلِلكِرامِ خَليلُ

    I pass the night being plied with it while I have a wineskin handy

    He is a boon companion to the generous

  5. مَقَدِيّاً أَحَلَّهُ اللَهُ لِلنا

    سِ شَراباً وَما تَحِلُّ الشَمولُ

    Allah made it lawful to the people as a drink

    While the date liqueur is not made lawful

  6. عِندَنا المُرشِقاتُ مِن بَقَرِ الإِن

    سِ هَداهُنَّ لِاِبنِ قَيسٍ دَليلُ

    We have the bright-faced cows

    That were guided to Ibn Qays as a gift

  7. أَلحِقيني بِلادَ بِشرٍ خَلاكِ ال

    ذَمُّ إِذ خُلِّيَت إِلَيهِ السَبيلُ

    Take me to the country of Bishr now that you are alone

    Since you are rid of those who blame

  8. مَلِكٌ وَجهُهُ طَليقٌ إِلَينا

    حينَ نَأتيهِ وَالعَطاءُ جَزيلُ

    A prince whose face is radiant comes graciously to us

    When we visit him, and his gifts are generous

  9. كُلَّما جاوَزَت مِنَ الأَرضِ ميلاً

    عَنَّ ميلٌ لَنا وَأَعرَضَ ميلُ

    Every time she traveled a mile away across the land

    A mile toward us, while a mile withdrew
