أَمْسَى بِفَيْحَانٍ فَنَفَّرَ مِنْ قَطَا

حَوْضَى تَرَغُّمُهُ بِلَيْلٍ أَقْعَسِ

رَبِذٌ قَوَائِمُهُ سَرِيعٌ رَجْعُهُ

نَحَّى عَلَيْهِ رَاكِبٌ لَمْ يَنْعَسِ

A nimble she-goat lightly returning to her fold

Her rider leaned over her unslept, watchful, alert

لَقِحَتْ حَوَائِلُ حُوللٍ لِتَمَامِهِ

رقب ودبر كَبْشَةَ عِرْمِسِ

The pregnant ewes of Howalla completed their term

With the nape and rump of a well-rounded ram
