وأَصفرَ من ياسَمِيِنِ الرِياض
يلوح على زُرْقة الخُرَّمِ
And a yellow bloom from the gardens’ jasmine
gleams against the blue of the khurram plant.
فشبَّهْتُ هذا وذا بالسماء
بدتْ في صِغارِ من الأنجم
So I likened it—this and that—to the sky
as it appeared amid tiny stars,
أو الشَّرَرِ المستِنيرِ الذي
تطايَرَ عن قَبَسٍ مُضْرَمِ
or to the radiant sparks that
flew from a blazing firebrand.
