Do you not see the clouds of revelry pouring down
rains of gladness upon every delight?
The echo of the pipes laments what I suffer,
telling the strings of the pain in my sighs.
And the drum’s voice, between the two, calls out:
“Come, rise and drink the aged wine!”
What a spectacle! At the sight of its beauty,
the care within all hearts clears away.
Were it not for the sparks’ fitful flickering,
I would say it was the blaze within the soul.
