1. أفنيتَ دهرك تَتّقي

    فيه الحوادث والمصائبْ

    You have spent your lifetime guarding against

    its mishaps and calamities.

  2. ولو اتّقيتَ معاصِي الر

    حمن فيما أنتَ راكب

    And had you guarded against disobedience to the Mer—

    —ciful One in all that you undertake,

  3. لأمِنتَ من نار الجحي

    م وفي الحياة من النّوائب

    you would surely have been safe from the fire of Hel—

    —l, and from life’s afflictions.

  4. إن لم تُراقِب من له

    حكمٌ عليك فمن تُراقِب

    If you do not heed the One who holds

    judgment over you, whom then do you heed?
