بَعَثْتُهُ يحكيكَ في بعضِ ما

أَلبَسَكَ الشوقُ لرؤيانا

I sent him to tell you some of what

Longing for seeing us has dressed you in

لكنّه يُهدي بأَرْواحِه

إليك مَغْدانا ومُمْسانا

But with his spirits he brings to you

Our cheekbones and eyelids

نَبِّيءْ أيا نِيلُوفَرَ النَّبْت عَنْ

وُدّي بتَضْوِيعكَ إنْسانا

Inform Nilufer, the sprout of plants, about

My love in your losing a human

وقل له لاَ صلَحتْ حالةٌ

تَنْهاك عن أن تتلقَّانا

And tell him no state has improved

That would prevent you from receiving us

ما جَمّل الأيّامَ خَلْقٌ كما

جمّلْتَها حُسْنا وإحسانا

No creatures have beautified days like

You have beautified them with beauty and kindness

لو طُويَ الجود إذا أصبحتْ

لِطيِّهِ كفُّك عُنْوانا

If generosity were folded when

Your palm became its folder

كأنَّما أنتَ رأيتَ النَّدى

والناسُ أمْسَوا عنه عُمْيانا

It would be as if you saw the dew

While people missed it, blind

قَفَوْتَ في المعروف أَخلاقَنا

وسُمْت في هَدْيك مَهدانا

You embodied our morals in good deeds

And in your guidance, made a cradle

لا كانَ من فرَق ما بينَنا

في جملة الأَحياءِ لا كانا

There was no difference between us

Among all the living, no there were two
