1. أَسْهرني طولَ ليلتي رَشَاٌ

    يَمْزُج لي ريقَه بأقداحِهْ

    A draught kept me awake all night

    Mixing its scent into his goblets.

  2. عاجَتْ على عاج خدّه ظُلَمٌ

    كأنها الليلُ فوق إصباحِهْ

    Darkness crept over the cheek's ivory

    As if night were upon the dawn.

  3. يا حسنَ كافور عارِضَيْه وما

    أَعْبَق فيه اللِّثامُ من راحِهْ

    O, the beauty of his camphor-white cheek!

    No veil's fragrance is more redolent.

  4. كأنما صَوْلجانُ عارِضِه

    في الخدّ يَهْوِي لضرب تُفَّاحِهْ

    It's as if his cheek were a icicle

    Falling to strike an apple.
