وَرَوْضَةٍ أُنُفٍ جاد الغمام لها

بدمعِه فكساها حُلَّةَ التَّرَفِ

A meadow where clouds poured their tears

Dressing it in a gown of luxury

يَحُفُّها باِقلاءٌ نَبْتُها خَضِلٌ

شهِيَّةُ المُجْتَنى مَعْشُوقة الهيفِ

Surrounded by acacias, their foliage lush

A ravishing beauty, beloved by the zealous

تحكي قدودَ العذارَى البيض جاذَبها

أردافُها فانثنت من شِدة الصلفِ

Her firm hips swaying like the white tails of shy gazelles

Bending from modesty, her gracefulness evident

باكَرْتُها بِنَدَامَى كلّهمْ فَهِمٌ

تراضَعوا دِرَّةَ الآدابِ والطُّرف

I courted her with my refined and gentle suitors

They suckled the pearl of courtesy and charm

كأنّ ألفاظَهم ما بينهم تحفٌ

غريبةُ الحسن أو أحلى من التحف

Their words seemed like precious gifts exchanged

Wondrously beautiful or sweeter than a prize
