I'm made of the gentleness of love and air
And from light my parts were set
The young give me their beautiful faces
Beyond mothers and fathers
And if the singing girls chant, I am
A veil over their blinking eyes
So it's as if I, the poetry, and the beautiful faces
Are stars in darkness in a sky
I touch the beautiful faces and relish
Every blushing cheek
I don't fear the slanderers if they glance at me
Nor do I fear the watchmen
And if the heads of the singing girls kiss me
The noble ladies kiss me too
My worth is far beyond shirts and rags,
And robes and cloaks and gowns
