وصلَتْ هديَّتُك التي هذَّبتها
تهذِيبها في الوزن والمنثورِ
Your gift has arrived, refined
In prose and verse, of literature the gem
دُرّية الآداب إلاّ أنّها
معشوقةُ التطويل والتقصير
Except it tends to elongation and concision
As lovers of excess and brevity
هي كالرياض إذا تَضاحَكَ نَوْرُها
وصفاء ودّك فيه كالكافور
Like gardens smiling in the light
Purity and musk as camphor
