قطعتَ بالعَتْب حَشاً لم يزل

يَقْطَعُه الفَقْدُ للُقْياكا

You cut off a love that never ceased

To be severed by your absence

لا تَتَّهمني بالجَفا ظالماً

حَسْبي من الأيام رؤياكا

Do not accuse me unjustly of aloofness

It is enough that I see you in my dreams

وكيف أنساك ولي مُهْجَةٌ

حياتُها ماءُ ثناياكا

And how could I forget you when I have

A soul whose life is your embrace

والله لا أَنْسَى له قَوْلَهُ

كَمْ تتناساني وأَرْعَاكا

By God, I do not forget his words

How often you forget me and are diverted

إن كنتَ من نسل مُعِزّ الهُدَى

كيف تُرَى في الحبّ أَفّاكا

If you are from the lineage of the guide to glory

How could you be so fickle in love

فقلتُ لا أفضلتُ إن لم أَكن

مُقَبِّلاً من أجل ذا فاكا

So I said, I would not prefer

To kiss another pair of lips but yours
