أنِسْنا يوم مَغْدَانا
على النِسْرين والوَرْدِ
We were delighted one morning,
Among jasmine and roses,
وقد أومضَ من ثغر
ك لي برق بلا رَعد
When your lips flashed to me
Lightning without thunder.
بروق غَيْمُها منك
فُرُقُ الشعَرِ الجَعْدِ
Lightning whose clouds are from you,
Strands of wavy hair.
وغصن القدّ قد أثم
رِ رُمَّانا من النهد
The branch of the slender form has sinned
Pomegranating from the breast.
فما زلنا نُسَقَّي الخم
رَ من عينيك والخدّ
So we continued irrigating the vine
From your eyes and cheek,
إلى أن أقبل الصبح
كعُرْف الفَرس الوَرْد
Until dawn approached
Like a pink horse.
