Pour me wine from clusters pressed
Long ago by palms, I request
See how the vines arranged their best
In beautiful rows for our fest
Berries are shown, honey suppressed
In flowers enclosed unconfessed
Like stars aligned, as pleasure possessed
In taste and fragrance gentle, blessed
Wrong to call vines "generous" unless
To the noble they likened the rest
Pour me, friend, and from my cup drink
Mirth between us let joy not shrink
I'll not taste wine unless I think
Highly of my drinking mate, methinks
