عنّ لِي أن أُقَبِّلَكْ

فارضَ مِنّي بذاكَ لَكْ

Grant me to kiss you,

And accept that from me,

ليس أَنِّي أردتُ ذا

لك عمداً لأُخْجِلَكْ

It is not that I intended so,

To shame you deliberately,

إنما لاح بدر وج

هِك عِندِي بِلا فَلَكْ

But your moon face appeared,

Revolving in my thoughts ceaselessly,

فَتَخَيَّرتُ قُبْلَةَ النْ

نورِ من ذلِك الحلك

So I chose to kiss the light,

Of that shining crescent.
