شؤون ذوي الشأن مرعيَّةٌ

ولو أَعلَت الأرض انذالَها

The affairs of people of consequence are respected

Even if the earth reveals its lowness

ولا يعرف الفضلَ الاَّ ذووه

فلا تبخس الناس أعمالها

And merit is only recognized by its possessors

So do not diminish people's deeds

وفي الصدر فاحفَظ وعُودك دهرا

او اقطع لسانك إن قالها

And keep your promises in your heart forever

Or cut off your tongue if you utter them

كفاك عفافٌ على عزَّةٍ

تؤيد بالفضل إجلالها

Your chastity suffices you pride

Supported by merit and veneration

ولا تحنِ رأساً ولا تُدنِ نفساً

تقطّع بالذلّ أوصالها

And do not bow your head or debase yourself

Lest humiliation shreds your limbs
