    So Dhul-lūniṣ signaled to him who sought his aid,

    Extending his palm, pleading most piteously,

    But Dhiyyūmith round the neck bent down,

    With his sinewy blade smote sheer through it clean.

    So fell the head to the dust, wounded sore

    Since he had cried aloud, shouting disdainfully.

    And either Dhiyyūmith or Odissa kept up the flight

    From the Trojans; his bow would he nowise relax.

    لَ وَكُلَّها أَوذِيسُ أَمسَكَ يَرفَعُ

    And likewise did he the wolf's pelt and long spear wield;

    Nay, them all did Odysseus hold and uplift.
