The lords have gathered around Zafis

    In that gilded hall

With cups of wine passed around

    Flowing freely in turns

    Looking down from their heights

    While Zafis complains bitterly

He said, ever since Hyreus wished

To humble the pride of Mycenae's walls

    That Hyreus who embraced him

    And Athens supports his victory

And in the distance the two ladies

    Only Pharis' swift mare accompanies

Warding off death with good news

While fate and ruin nearly flare up

Surely victory belongs to Atreus' son

Come let us fulfill what must follow

Shall we forget blood and war

Or is peace more likely to stop its flow?

If you seek peace, proud Ilion

Will remain under its lords' protection

And Menelaus will advance with ease

So peace prevails and blood is spared
