Then I imagined an educated world
That gave and gave an ornamented brazier
Decorated with images of flowers
That was never placed above the fire
A prize for the glorious spearman
With throwing and hurling from afar
So the tall Athamasnon stood up
Thus Meryon rose erect
Then Achilles cried out, is there anyone among us
Who does not know, o squire, how many tent pegs I have struck
And how much force and strength I possessed
So to you belongs the reward, rightly prepared
Take it to your heaven without objection
And if you wish whatever in this matter
So let us love Meryon with this spear and indeed
With this squire I give him eternal pleasure
And Meryon accepted the spear and left
Then he took the precious risk
Throwing it to the Phegeus Gulf
