1. فلق الملاحة من جبينك لاحا

    وكفى به فلقاً فهات الراحا

    The navigation has split open your radiant forehead

    And that split is enough, so grant some comfort

  2. واشفع برياها عبيراً ثانياً

    من طيب فيك يضاعف الأفراحا

    And add to it a second gentle breeze

    Of your sweetness that redoubles joys

  3. طاب الصبوح على صباحتك التي

    قبل الصباح جلت علي صباحا

    The dawn has been good on your morning

    That before the dawn has shone a morning upon me

  4. وعلى حدائقنا التي ثنى بها

    فوك الشقيق وخدك التفاحا

    And upon our gardens in which

    The anemones and your apple-like cheek have flourished

  5. سبحان من جعل العذار حمائلاً

    لك والجفون الفاتكات سلاحا

    Glory to Him who made your excuses burdens

    For you, and your swooping eyelids weapons

  6. وأذلني وأعز مقلتك التي

    ملأت قلوب العاشعين جراحا

    And He humbled me and honored your glance that

    Has filled the hearts of lovers with wounds

  7. سلمتها قلبي الجريح كأنها

    سلت لتنصرني عليك صفاحا

    I handed my wounded heart to it as if

    It had been sent to help me against you as intercession

  8. وهي التي ولت هواك على الحشى

    فأحل سفك دمي لها وأباحا

    And it is the one that inclined your love in my breast

    So my blood being shed for it became permitted

  9. حتام أطمع منك بالرشإ الذي

    لا قيت منه سميذعاً جحجاحا

    I still hope for the downpour from you

    That I have not gotten a small drizzle from

  10. وإذا نظرت إلى تموج ردفه

    هزت معاطفه علي رماحا

    And when I look at the billowing of its expanse

    It shook its coats at me like spears

  11. وكأن خنصره لرقة خصره

    ألقى بخاتمه فصار وشاحا

    And as if its delicate slender waist

    Cast its ring off so it became a wrap

  12. يا رب أنت خلقت من ألحاظه

    شركاً يكبل شادناً ورداحا

    O Lord you created from its glances

    A partnership that fetters one who is free and at ease

  13. وملأتها حوراً لتترع ناظري

    سهراً وتملأه بكاً ونواحا

    And you filled it with houris to graze my sight

    Staying up through the night, filling it with crying and wailing

  14. فامنن علي بكيمياء رضابه

    لتعود أتراحي به أفراحا

    So favor me with the alchemy of its gaze

    To return my injuries into joys
