1. ما دام راشد لا يدوم غرورُ

    هذا وزير عادلٌ وغيورُ

    As long as Rashid does not last arrogance

    This is a just and zealous minister

  2. وهو الذي سيف الإمام وسيفه

    سيان كلٌّ منهما منصور

    And he is the one who is the Imam's sword and his sword

    Both are victorious

  3. أخلاقه مثل الرياض وإنما

    أخلاق بعض الخادميه قبور

    His morals are like gardens while

    The morals of some servants are graves

  4. أفجنةٌ محفوفةٌ بمكارهٍ

    هذا الوزير العالم النحرير

    Pits full of ugliness

    This minister, the learned freethinker

  5. يا من تحج لبابه إبل الرجا

    وحمولها المنظوم والمنثور

    O you who perform Hajj to his door, the she-camels of men

    And their burdens of prose and verse

  6. ومفهِّم العرب الذي تسلطوا

    في السلط أن الدائرات تدور

    And the one who made the Arabs understand, who tyrannized

    In power, that circles revolve

  7. بعوامل فيها الممات لعاملٍ

    طاغٍ وفيها للعفاة الخِير

    With factors in which there is death for an

    Oppressor agent, and in it there is good for the weak

  8. ما حام يطلب ضيرها متغطرس

    إلا وحام على حماه الضير

    No arrogant person sought its harm

    Unless the harm sought his protector

  9. ياقوت عدلك لا نوالك نبتغي

    فالمال في عين القنوع حقير

    The ruby of your justice, not your wealth, we seek

    For money in the eyes of the content is insignificant

  10. إن المميز حين فتح عينه

    لسعيد وهو من الغرام ضرير

    When the distinguished one opened his eye

    To Saeed, and he is blind from passion

  11. جعل الوقاحة دأبه ليزيلني

    عن مركزي ومساعدوه كثير

    He made insolence his habit to remove me

    From my position and his assistants are many

  12. وغدا يداعيني بحكٍّ كائنٍ

    من كل ذي قلمٍ عليه يغير

    And he began to sue me with an existing rule

    From everyone with a pen that changes him

  13. فاسمع فدتك النفس قولة صادقٍ

    ما جال قط بباله التزوير

    So listen to the soul's statement, may you be ransomed

    He has never thought of forgery

  14. إن التساويد التي أصلحتها

    كانت تُحَكُّ بأمره وتمور

    The forms I corrected

    Were ruled by his order and bend

  15. فمن الذي يحلو لديك قصاصه

    الآمر الجاني أم المأمور

    So who is it nice for you to penalize

    The commander, the perpetrator, or the ordered?

  16. ودفاتر الكتاب أكثرها بها ال

    تصحيح والتصليح والتنقير

    And most of the books of the writers in them

    Correction, repair and investigation

  17. أفلا يكون الذنب ذنباً واحدٌ

    أم ذنب كل مخنث مغفور

    Isn't the sin one sin

    Or the sin of every effeminate forgiven?

  18. تعديل جلق كان بين فطاحل

    لم يخف حقٌّ بينهم أو زور

    The correction of a boil that was between jurists

    No right or falsehood was hidden between them

  19. لو شاء يسألهم وليُّ أمورهم

    لتكشفت بعد الأمور أمور

    If the guardian of their affairs wanted, he would ask them

    Matters would be revealed after matters

  20. ومن العجائب أن يصدَّق واحدٌ

    في قوله ويكذَّب الجمهور

    And of the wonders is that one believes

    In his words and the majority belies
