1. A camel-driver’s chant for him who made existence glad—

    with a surging wave that filled the realms with bounty.

  2. Existence found you a sun of loftiness and a lion in his lair;

    through both, the Caliphate attains its desired end.

  3. Thus it began advancing through the offices your most—

    exalted person, and reviving through you what was envied.

  4. Was there ever a rank you were granted that fell short

    of proclaiming your hard-won merit?

  5. Or did it ever linger a day—and nights—over an appointment,

    leaving in it a profligate, defiant man?

  6. Rend the clouds of wrongdoing, for it is the—

    evil omen that turned the gardens into wastelands.

  7. Slaughter, with your justice and integrity, tyranny and—

    extravagance, deceit, and vilification.

  8. You are but glory’s neck, for which

    the pearls of praise have become necklaces.

  9. May our lord never cease sustaining you with his favor

    and saying: “Through you, the age has become happy.”

  10. When my Ministry of Justice flourished through my justice,

    I set its chronogram: “Khurshid, the most just of rulers.”
