1. أغرق الطرف بالدموع وأعرقْ

    وتناسى الربوع كوكب جلَّقْ

    I drowned my eyes in tears and perspired

    And forgot the meadows, the adorned planet

  2. كوكب اللطف والملاحة والظر

    ف الذي يعشق الملال ويُعشق

    The planet of kindness, wit, and sight

    He who loves boredom and is loved

  3. كوكبٌ لو تراه عبَّادة الشم

    س لقالت عبادتي لك أليق

    A planet, if the sun sees it

    It would say my worship of you is more fitting

  4. في محياه للغزالة نورٌ

    وثناياه للكواكب رونق

    In his smile there is light for the gazelle

    And in his cheeks there is glamour for the planets

  5. كلما أحدق الدلال به ما

    ل وفي الناس بالملالة حدَّق

    Whenever the guide stared at him, he

    Is amused and stares at people with boredom

  6. سار عن ساحتي فريد من النا

    س ومن حسنه الفريد بفيلق

    He went away from my court uniquely from people

    And from his unique beauty gracefully

  7. آه واحسرتاه مرَّ زماني

    وبشهد الرضاب لم أتلمّق

    Alas - how my time has passed

    And with the tents, I did not flatter

  8. والذي تستحب خمرة فيه

    ما تصدى له امرؤٌ وتصدَّق

    And He whom the wine is loved in

    No man rivals Him and gives charity

  9. أيها الراحل المقيم بقلبي

    وعيوني لطيفِه تتشوَّق

    O you who settled in my heart

    And my eyes crave your gentle one

  10. ضاق صدر المشوق واتسع الشو

    ق لثغر على رضابك ضَيَّق

    The lover's chest tightened and the

    Passion widened for a mouth on your tents that narrowed

  11. ما تعاصيك مات عاصيك أولى

    من تلافيك للقلوب وأوفق

    Whoever disobeyed you, their disobeyer died

    Whoever avoided you is better for hearts and more harmonious

  12. صل غريباً يود منك غريراً

    ريقه يترك الفرات معتق

    Pray stranger who wants from you an attainable

    Drink his saliva that leaves the Euphrates tied

  13. عاشقاً أنَّ حين طوقه الدم

    ع وورَّى فقال أنَّ المطوَّق

    A lover, that when worries besieged him

    And he saw, he said that the besieged

  14. كلما غرد الكريم ترجَّى

    عفوه وابتغى لقاك بجلق

    Whenever the generous one sings, he

    Hopes for his pardon and seeks meeting you with eagerness

  15. في رياض بها المدامة راقت

    والهوا رقَّ والتمتع أورق

    In gardens in which the wine excelled

    And passion excelled and enjoyment flourished

  16. ذات وردٍ ونرجس وشقيقٍ

    وبهارٍ وجلنارٍ وزنبق

    Of roses, narcissus, lavender

    And bahar, jasmine, and lilies

  17. طالما كان يُصْبَحُ الصبُّ فيها

    من حميّاك والرضاب ويُغبَق

    Whenever the morning in it

    From your trance, and the tents, and it ruins

  18. كلما جادها الإله بنورٍ

    خاله من جبين عارف أشرق

    Whenever God gives it light

    Emptying it from the forehead of a knowing luminous mystic

  19. سيد العارفين قطب سماء ال

    دين خير المثابرين على الحق

    The master of the gnostics, pole of the

    Religion’s sky, the best of the persevering in the truth

  20. سيدٌ بالتقى تسربل والعد

    ل تردى وبالعفاف تمنطق

    A master in piety wrapped and in

    Justice relaxed and in chastity belted

  21. قام للَه فالمنابر والأق

    لام تثني عليه والناس والحق

    He stood for God so pulpits and

    Pens praise him and people and the truth

  22. وانتضى صارم الحقيقة فالحك

    مة تنضمُّ والضلالة تزهق

    And the sword of truth was unsheathed so

    Wisdom is convened and misguidance perished

  23. لفظُ ليثٍ على سواه مجازٌ

    ليس إلّا عليه بالحق يطلق

    The word of a lion about others is a metaphor

    It is only about him in truth declared

  24. يحسب الناس في يديه خطوطاً

    وهي للجود أبحرٌ تدفق

    People think there are lines in his hands

    And they are for generosity overflowing seas

  25. ما تبارى يراعه والحسام ال

    عضب إلا جهلت من هو أسبق

    None rivals providing for him except the

    Angry swords except I was ignorant of who preceded

  26. يحسد الغيث جوده فينادي

    بلسان الرعود جودك أغرق

    The rain envies his generosity so it calls

    With the tongue of thunder your generosity drowned

  27. ولو اختار أن يقول مقالاً

    صادقاً قال سيل جودك أغدق

    And if he chose to say a

    Truthful saying he would say ‘your generosity’s flood flooded’

  28. يا أمين العلوم يا عروة الدي

    ن وسبط الأمين طه الموفق

    O trustee of knowledge, O bond of the

    Religion and grandson of the trusted Тaha, the successful

  29. يعلم اللَه أنني لمحيّا

    ك من الصاديات للماء أشوق

    God knows that I, for your

    Life, from the pouring rains am more thirsty

  30. غير أني مقيدٌ بأمور

    ما لها من ينوب عني بجلق

    But I am restricted by things

    That have no one to represent me with eagerness

  31. خدمة العاهل المعظم والأم

    مِ التي اختارني لخدمتها الحق

    Serving the magnificent king and the

    Nation that chose me for its rightful service

  32. ولها من سقامها واحتياجي

    مهجةٌ تلتظي وصبرٌ يمزَّق

    And from its sickness and my need

    A flaming inferno that flames and patience torn

  33. وعسى اللَه أن يمن على عب

    دك يوماً بما يحب ويعشق

    And may God one day bestow upon your

    Servant what he loves and craves

  34. فتداوي حشاشة شقها البي

    ن بتقبيل راحتيك وترتق

    So it treats the crack in my essence caused

    By kissing your palm and rises

  35. لا برحت الدوامَ كعبةَ خيرٍ

    كل من طاف حولها يتوفق

    I did not stop making the permanence of your goodness a

    Holy House, all who orbited it succeed

  36. يتهادى لها حجيج ثنائي

    وعليها مدائحي تتعلق

    Pilgrims of your praise come to it

    And upon it my praises hang
