My life for you—inscribe the precious command,

and say, “Go forth, for day has dawned.”

Set aside the envier’s words, and be a brave man

who keeps his promises—for breaking one’s word is shame.

For you are the lion, not like the hyena, whom,

when morning glimmers, a donkey overcomes.
