ما أضعف الآساد من خفّانِ

إن قاتلت بفواتر الأجفانِ

How weak are the lions against the claws

That strike with the edges of eyelids

عربيةٌ ما ماثلت أهدابها

إلّا أسنة عامر بن سنان

An Arab woman has never blinked her eyelashes

Except for the tongues of Amr ibn Sannan

بطل تعادل رمحه ويراعه

وتفاخرا فتشاكل الأمران

A hero whose spear equals his insight

Both take pride and resemble one another

لا تمسك الدرر الغوال بنانُه

إلّا إذا كانت بنات بيان

None can grasp the precious pearls

Except the eloquent daughters of speech

مرجت لنا البحرين راحته التي

فيها الندى واليأس يلتقيان

The two seas offered us their calm

Where dew and despair meet

فهو الهمام الفاضل السمح الذي

لم يختلف بمديحه اثنان

He is the noble, generous, forgiving hero

Whose praise no two differ about

كلٌّ له ثانٍ يماثله سوى ال

باري وهذا الفارس العدناني

All have a peer to match them except

The Creator and this knight from Adnan

شاهدته بين الخصوم فخلت في

نفثاته للمشكلات يماني

I saw him among adversaries and found

His breathings solve complexities

ووجدته يولي العفاة فلم أجد

بحراً حكاه يجود بالعقيان

I found him patronize the weak so I did not find

A sea that equals his generosity with the destitute

يا خير من سعت الركاب لبابه

تجلو عليه عرائس الأذهان

O best of those whose doors are open

To the brides of thoughts to visit him

بان الصيام وكل صومٍ بعده

ساعٍ إليك وكل عيدٍ راني

It appears that fasting and any fast to come

Is longing for you and every feast is blissful

يشتاق منك عدبَّساً متوشحاً

بالحسن والإحسان والإيمان

Longing for you wearing beauty, benevolence and faith

So greet us and every feast to come

فاسلم لنا ولكل عيدٍ قادمٍ

يا بهجة الأعياد والأزمان

O delight of feasts and eras
