1. للَه در الشام يبرح سيدٌ

    عنها ويأتيها كريمٌ سيدُ

    For God, a master in Damascus departs

    And a generous master comes to her

  2. ما سال مدمعها لفرقة ماجدٍ

    إلا وكفكفه همامٌ أمجد

    Her tears did not flow for the separation of Majid

    Except they were dried by a more glorious protector

  3. جاد الإله لها بأفضل عادلٍ

    كانت تسود به فروق وتحسد

    God granted her the best and most just ruler

    With whom superiority and envy once prevailed

  4. من سادةٍ غر الوجوه أكارمٍ

    في كل أرض شأنهم أن يحمدوا

    From masters unlike any other generous nobles

    Whose deeds are praiseworthy in every land

  5. كل الولايات العظام منازلٌ

    لك أيها القمر العظيم المفرد

    All the greatest governorships are dwellings

    For you, O unique, magnificent moon

  6. لكن جلق في البلاد فريدةٌ

    حسناء يحسدها عليك الفرقد

    But Damascus among the countries is uniquely

    A beautiful one, envied for your sake even by Virgo

  7. أنت ابن سامي لو يساميك السهى ال

    سامي لأخجله علاك الأوحد

    You are the son of the sublime, and if worries were to sublimate you

    The sublime one would be embarrassed by your unmatched sublimity

  8. والصبح صبح المجد والشرف الذي

    كل المحاسن حيث يوجد توجد

    And the dawn is the dawn of glory and honor where

    All beauty exists wherever it is found

  9. فاسلم لنا ولكل مجدٍ باذخٍ

    ما وحد اللَه العظيم موحد

    So welcome to us and to all prominent glory

    That God the Great Unifier has unified
