نور الغزالة في العشية قد ظهرْ

أم نور والينا الذي فضح القمرْ

The gazelle's light appeared at dusk

Or was it our governor's light that outshone the moon?

والٍ يصول برأيه وحسامه

فيفوز فوز قضاء ربك والقدر

Whoever contends with his opinion and sword

Will win the victory of your Lord's decree and fate

ما غادرت للظالمين سيوفه

عيناً ولا تركت لباغٍ من أثر

He did not spare his swords for the unjust

Or leave a trace for any transgressor

أيقنته أسد الشرى متنكراً

وعرفته أسد الورى لما سفر

I knew he was the lion of evil in disguise

And recognized him as the lion of righteousness when he set out

وقرأت سطراً من أسرة وجهه

فإذا به بالسلط أرخ قد ظفر

And I read a line on his noble face

So by the power he gained the victory
