    Before the tooth of wisdom could sprout

  2. وكيف لا يجهل صبٌ مثلي

    عاش مع الغيد خفيف الظل

    How could one as young as I not be ignorant

    Having lived with the flock, lightly shaded

  3. غذاؤه الراح ورَنُّ الحجْلِ

    وريق ربات العيون النجل

    His food is comfort and the tinkle of anklets

    And the leaf of the doe-eyed maidens

  4. ذلك فضل الله أشهى فضل

    Such is the grace of God, the most coveted grace
