O succor of all who are undone by poverty
After God on the Throne, we depend on you
I complain to you that patience deserted me on feast day
Empty-handed, so turned away after that, my skin
So look upon those who have no lamb to offer
For the feast, O succor, straitened in this land
And submit it for them and for feasts renewed
By God, may their number not diminish for them
Time does not consume my wealth nor compensates
And poverty kills the likes of me without retribution
The darkness of my fortune does not last, your face to me
Is the sun whose mansion is the Lion
For you are kinder to me than I, more merciful than
A mother generous to her child in her embrace
