1. نهودٌ مثل رمان الجنانِ

    تغازلني وتعرض عن مكاني

    Breasts like pomegranates of paradise

    Tease me and turn away from my place

  2. أميل لضمها وتميل عني

    كأنا في اللقا متباعدان

    I yearn to embrace them and they lean away

    As if we are distant in meeting

  3. بروحي منك يا ليلى عيوناً

    لها فضل الشجاع على الجبان

    My soul, O Layla has eyes for you

    With the merit of the brave over the coward

  4. وصدراً خلته مرآة عاج

    إذا قابلته ليلاً أراني

    And a chest that is a mirror of ivory

    When I face it at night I see myself

  5. لمن أشكو هواك ومن مجيري

    وطرفي والفؤاد القاتلان

    To whom do I complain of your love, who will help me

    While my eyes and murderous heart

  6. دعي الحَجَل الذي ندعوه حِجْلاً

    يرتّل بيننا سير التداني

    Let the barrier that we call "barrier"

    Chant between us the melody of intimacy

  7. فما شيب العذار علي عارٌ

    ولي عزمٌ أحد من اليماني

    My youthful passion is no disgrace on me

    And I have the determination of Yemen’s spears

  8. أما يرضيك أني عبد رقٍّ

    لخير الخلق من قاصٍ ودان

    Is it not enough that I am a gentle slave

    To the best of creation, whether near or far

  9. لعبد القادر الحسنيِّ أولى

    عباد اللَه بالمِدَحِ الحسان

    To Abdel Qader Al-Husseini is more deserving

    Allah's servants with the finest praise

  10. أميرٌ في يديه حياة عانٍ

    وفي صمصامه إهلاك جان

    A prince in whose hands the oppressed find life

    And in whose sheaths lie the death of demons

  11. إذا ضن السحاب وجاد خلنا

    عباد اللَه تمطَرُ بالجمان

    When the clouds are stingy and he is generous we

    Allah's servants are rained on with bounty

  12. رأيت قصائدي بيديه تقرا

    فصرت إخالني الشهم ابن هاني

    I saw my poems in his hands being read

    So I came to believe I was Hasani, son of the illustrious poet

  13. وطاولت السماء به افتخاراً

    وعدت وحاسداي الفرقدان

    And I aspired to the heavens with him proudly

    And reckoned my envious detractors as ants

  14. أجرر من نسيج العز ثوباً

    وآخر من نداه الأرجواني

    I wove a gown of the fabric of glory

    And another of the silk of purple

  15. فلم أر مثله برّاً كريماً

    له في كل مكرمةٍ يدان

    I have not seen the like of him, so righteous and generous

    With every generous deed he has a hand

  16. إذا سل السيوف رأيت بدراً

    يقاتل بالأهلة كل جان

    When swords are unsheathed, I see a full moon

    Fighting the demons with its crescents

  17. وإن هز القناة رأيت ليثاً

    يصول على الكماة بأفعوان

    And when the battle was stirred, I saw a lion

    Rampaging on the ranks with snakes

  18. رآه الدهر أثبت منه جاشاً

    فأقسم لا يعززه بثان

    Fate saw him more steadfast than itself

    And swore never to strengthen another against him

  19. به تاهت دمشق على سواها

    وبالسكان تفتخر المغاني

    Through him Damascus lost all equal

    And foreigners boast of its people

  20. وقد عمت مكارمه البرايا

    ولكن ما لقاصٍ حظ دان

    His virtues have spread through the lands

    Yet what portion does Farqad have?

  21. إذا فاح الجنان على بعيدٍ

    فما ظن القريب من الجنان

    When the gardens exude fragrance in the distance

    What then is the situation of one who is near?

  22. نعوِّذه فقد حسدت علاه ال

    جهاتُ الستُ بالسبعِ المثاني

    We seek refuge, for the six directions envied his sublimity

    With the seven repeatedly

  23. ونحمد من براه لبسط كفٍّ

    وهز يراعةٍ أو هندواني

    And we praise the one whose kindness extended a palm

    And shook a banner or Indian sword

  24. كأنهما إذا افتخرا بسلمٍ

    ويوم كريهةٍ فرسا رهان

    As if when they boast of peace

    And the day of Karhia's steed they bet

  25. ملاذ العالمين بقيت عيداً

    يشيِّع كل أعياد الزمان

    Refuge of the worlds you remained a celebration

    That bids every age celebrate

  26. ودمت لجنة الدنيا هماماً

    يداه لمن عليها ديمتان

    You remained the ardor of the world’s convention

    Your hands open to those who stay true

  27. حللت ببرزخ التقوى فآلت

    على الثقلين أن لا يبغيان

    You attained the isthmus of piety so you came to

    Refrain the two burdens from transgression

  28. فنحن لديك في أمنٍ ويمنٍ

    ومن ريا جوارك في جنان

    So we under your wing are safe and prosperous

    And whoever enjoys your company is in paradise

  29. تقبل من فتاك فتاةَ فكر

    كأن بوجهها راووق حان

    Accept from your young man a thought like a blossom

    As if its face were a garden of splendor

  30. حياءً من فصاحة حيدري ال

    بلاغة واليراعة والبيان

    Ashamed before the eloquence of your Haydari

    And his remarkable sign and rhetoric

  31. فلا برحت تحييك المعالي

    بأنواع المعارف والمعاني

    You never ceased to greet the eminent

    With diverse knowledges and meanings
