خلع الصبابة من قلوب الناس

كفلٌ من الأسلاك والأمراس

جرار كالحمَّار والكنّاس

Your hindquarters with borrowed finery and your tail that is

Like a donkey's and a church sexton's

إن الظباء قصيرة أذنابها ال

ذنب الطويل يكون للنسناس

Gazelles have short tails

Only foxes have long tails

خلق الجمال لغادة أردافها

صنع المهيمن لا صنيع الناس

Beauty's hindquarters were created for coquettes

Made by the Omnipotent, not by people

بلباسها العربي يعظم قدرها

لا بانتفاش لباسها الإلزاسي

She is honored in her Arab dress

Not in her provocative European dress

فهو الذي ببياضها وبياضه

يغني عن المشكاة والنبراس

It and her whiteness are enough

Without need for lantern or candle

وهي التي تمحو ذنوب فؤادها ال

قاسي بلين قوامها المياس

And she who erases her heart's sins

With the softness of her supple figure
