You upheld the banner of truth, supported by justice,
So the abode of injustice collapsed, and justice rejoiced.
The creation of God gained virtues from you,
That turn back the hand of the oppressor, angering injustice.
O Sultan, descendent of the greatest ancestors,
You were granted their greatness and conclusive word.
O you, a downpour with your Lord's mercy,
Overflowing, with no inadequacy or stinginess.
Your patience tames the ferocious lions,
And makes the birds, frightened by arrows, comforted by you.
As if you are the soul, and the land is lifeless,
And its creatures confused, while you are its mind.
The Russian claimed you are an oppressor,
While with you, the lamb is not preyed on by the wolf.
Let the Russian king look at the state of his country,
And judge with justice, not contradicted by transmitters.
Are the rights of non-Muslims sold in the Ottoman state?
Are bulls and calves sold with the land?
Our churches are built under your rule, while under his rule,
They are destroyed. So which ruler has preference?
And who of you grants rights to his people,
With the most just division, untouched by injustice?
And who of you is the sword of God, whose shade
Holds together each covenant and releases bindings?
The non-Muslim was expelled at the Russian’s arrival,
So even children mourned their forefathers.
Had the non-Muslim felt the justice of your rule,
He would have settled, and residence would not have been disrupted.
Let the Russian king know our rights under you
Are the rights of Muslims, even if they are wronged.
And that the blood of the non-Muslim is spared by you,
As the Creator ordered, and the messengers ruled.
Your food is permitted to us, and our food permitted to you,
And we carry the same responsibilities, without increase.
You are content with what your Lord granted you,
Abandoning countries mostly in ruins.
Your enemy fears your roaring sword,
While your sword is God’s, none equal to it.
His rude envoy deluded him,
That the Muslim lands are easy prey for him.
As if Turkish soldiers are defeated by ducks,
Or ferocious lions overpowered by deer.
The bat has spoken, and the echo arbitrated!
The deer rivaled the graceful oryx!
The cunning fox yelped, and its spider weaved,
And the mule hurried the horse.
He called you for improper affairs,
So suffered being disobeyed by messengers.
He unleashed arrows of intrigue toward you,
But his arrows fell back broken.
Mencikov is no wise man,
To refuse a war decried by the reasonable.
You called to God’s religion with truth,
Defending the Hanafi faith without wavering.
You were met by white-faced groups,
Their swords red, and their eyes blue.
They came to you with heroes of lofty heads,
Whose faces the spear and blade penetrate.
As if the blood of battles upon their chests
Were fermented wine, in which ants float.
Napoleon witnessed the extent of their injustice,
So sent an army of his creatures of justice.
Victoria launched ironclad warships,
With towering funnels and smooth hulls.
But her men did not benefit from their tools,
Burned by the torrent of flames, without softening.
O sun of the British, their queen,
Melting the Russian mountains, shaking their foundations.
And O Napoleon, guardian of zeal,
His care is truth, heroism fades through it.
May Napoleon, lion of his time, endure,
And his ally Victoria, of glorious gatherings.
And may you, O Commander of the Faithful, remain supported,
The world protected through you, and the family prideful.
May your sword of love negate the blame of the sword,
For the blame of the sword does not enter lovers’ ears.
And may your loyalists acclaim, when you are victorious,
“You have lived, and we lived - today the group is reunited!”
For your sword and the fire, the enemy, and their souls,
And your rule and the army, the settlements and booty.
