أيْرٌ ككلْبِ الدارِ لمَّا جَنَى
وصار في فِعْلِ الْخَنَا ذا شَغَفْ
Like a home's guard dog when it goes astray
And takes to shameful acts with great delight,
يقُوم للطَّارِي عليه ولا
يقومُ للإلْفِ الذي قد عَرَفْ
It rises up against a passing stranger
But not against a well-known, friendly sight.
