مَوْلىً إذا ما جئْتُ أبْوابَهُ
وفَضْلُه أصْبح لي دَاعِيَا
When his doors are approached, he whose
Grace impels me, turns still, though absent, propitious;
ظَلَّ أميرُ الشَّوْقِ لي آمِراً
وحاجبُ الْهَيْبةِ لي ناهِيَا
While sternness, now softened, and pride now repressed,
At the smile of his vot'ry revoke the decree!
