عد عن الراح وعن كرعها

كم أغرقت عينك في دمعها

Turn away from war and its devastation

How your eyes have drowned in its tears

وكم أثارت بين أهل الصفا

حربا توارى الجو في نقعها

And how it has stirred hostility among the people of harmony

A war whose darkness spreads through the sky

عداوة الإخوان من شأنها

وفقد عقل المرء من طبعها

The enmity of brothers is in its nature

And the loss of one's reason is its consequence

قرب رضا الرحمن في بعدها

ووصل عفو الله في قطعها

Seeking God's pleasure despite the distance

And God's pardon after the severing

ومرّها أكثر من طيبها

وضرّها أكبر من نفعها

Its bitterness outweighs its sweetness

And its harm is greater than its benefit
