وَصَلْنَا حُبَّكُم فَقَطَعْتُمُونَا

وَوَفَّيْنَا العُهُودَ فَخُنْتُمُونَا

We reached out to you with love, but you cut us off,

We kept our promises, but you betrayed us,

وَأصفَيْنَا الوِدَاد لَكُم فَخُلْتُم

ورَفَّعْنَاكُمُ فَوَضَعْتُمُونَا

We purified our affection for you, but you abandoned us,

We raised you up, but you diminished us,

وَرُمْنَا قُربَ ذَاتكمُ فَبِنْتُم

وَأحْبَبْنَاكُمُ فَكَرِهْتُمُونَا

We aspired to be close to you, but you estranged us,

We loved you, but you hated us,

وَوَجَّهْنَا لِنَحْوِكُمُ فَمِلْتُم

وَمَلَّكْنَاكُمُ فَظَلَمْتُمُونَا

We turned to face you, but you were bored by us,

We made you kings, but you wronged us,

وَأولَيْنَاكُمُ سَمْعًا وَطَوعًا

وَآوَيْنَاكُمُ فَطَرَدتُمُونَا

We gave you our obedient attention, but you evicted us,

We nurtured you, but you weaned yourselves from us though we thirsted,

وَأرضَعْنَاكُمُ ثَديَ التَّصَافِي

على ظمإ بكم فَفَطَمْتُمُونا

We hoped for your compassion, but you had no mercy,

We overlooked your harshness, but you turned us away,

وَأمَّلْنَا مَرَاحِمَكُم فَجُرتُم

فَهَلاَّ يَا قُضَاةُ رَحِمْتُمُونَا

We thought well of you, but you did evil,

We did not reproach you, but you reproached us,

وَأعْرَضْنَا عَنِ العُذَّالِ فيكُمْ

فَلِمْ لِصُدُودِكُمْ عَرَّضْتُمونَا

We made you the talk of the age, but you forgot us,

We were content with none but you, but you exchanged us for others,

وَأحسنَّا الظُّنَونَ بِكُمْ فَسُؤْتُمْ

وَلم نعتِبكمُ فَعَتَبْتُمُونَا

We shall be patient, for time brings change,

We shall requite you as you have treated us,

وَصَيَّرْنَا الزمَانَ بكم حَدِيثًا

ولَمْ نَنْسَكُمُ فَنَسِيتُمُونَا

We stand amazed at you, confused,

We shall repay you for your past actions,

وَلَمْ نَرْضَ بِغَيْرِكمُ بَديلاً

فَلِمْ بِالغَيْرِ قد بَدَّلْتُمُونَا

We have no complaints if we repay you,

We have drawn as close to you as you drew to us,

سَنَصْبر فَالزَّمَانُ لَهُ انقلاَبٌ

نُعَامِلُكُمْ بِمَا عَامَلْتُمُونَا

Time will judge, and will decree,

What you have determined for us.

وَنضحكُ منكمُ عَجَباً وَتِيهًا

وَنَجْزِيكُمْ بِمَا أسْلَفْتُمُونَا

وَلاَ عَتْبٌ عَلَيْنَا إنْ جَزَينَا

وَدِنَّاكُمْ بِمَا قَدْ دِنْتُمُونَا

وَلِلدَّهْرِ احتكامٌ سَوْفَ يَقْضِي

عليكمْ بالذي أوْلَيْتُمونَا
