وَغَايَةُ مَا تَأتِي وَلَوْ طِرْتَ لِلسُّهَى

ببعضِ صفَات لاَ تُطِبقُ لَهَا حَفْزَا

The height of what comes to you, even if you aspire for delights,

Is with some attributes that do not fully match her zeal,

قُصَارَى المعَالِي أنْ تُرَى دُونَ نَعْلِه

وَلِمْ لاَ وَقَدْ دَاسَ البِسَاطَ بِهِ عِزَّا

The most sublime heights are to be seen below his slipper,

Why not, when he has trodden the carpet with glory.

عَلَيْهِ سَلاَمُ اللَّهِ مَا لَبِسَ الدُّجَى

رِدَاءً تَرَى خَيْطَ الصَباحِ لَهُ طَرْزَا

On him be God's peace, he did not wear obscurity

As a cloak, you see the thread of dawn embroidered on it,

وَعِتْرَتِهِ وَالآلِ وَالصَّحْبِ كُلَّمَا

تَذكَّرَ مشتَاقٌ أحِبَّاهُ فَاهْتَزَّا

And on his family and companions whenever

A longing lover remembers and loves them, he trembles.
