جَرَى فِي ثَغْرُو الأعْطَرْ
شَرَابْ جُلاَّبْ وَنَوْفَرْ مْعَطَّرْ
There flowed within his most fragrant mouth
a draught of rosewater cordial and perfumed water lily;
وَرِيقُو الحِلْو مُسْكِرْ
مَزْج قَهْوَه بسُكَّرْ مكَرَّرْ
and the sweet beloved’s intoxicating saliva—
a blend of coffee with refined sugar.
