وَشَادِنٍ أنْبَتَ فِي خَدَّيْهِ مَا
صَانَ به من ثَغْرِه العَذْبَ الفُرَاتْ
And a young gazelle brought forth upon his cheeks what
he used as a guard against his sweet, Euphrates-fresh mouth.
فَرِيقُهُ العَذْبُ وَنَبْتُ خَدّهِ
ذا سُكَّرٌ مُعَسَّلٌ وَذا نَبَاتْ
His sweet saliva and the growth upon his cheek—
this is honeyed sugar, and that is rock candy.
