بِاللَّهِ يَا قَلْبُ احْتَمِلْ ألَمَ الجوَى

فَلَقَدْ أصِبْتَ مِنْ هَوَى العَيْنِ بِالعَيْنِ

By Allah, O my heart, endure the pain of passion

For you have suffered from the love of the eyes by the eyes

وَأنْتَ لِفَرْطِ مَا قَدْ جَرَى

أجْرَى عَلَى المُعْتَادِ دَمًا دُونَ عَيْنِ

And because of the excess of what has passed

It shed blood other than tears, against habit
