يا هادي الضلال للدين القويم

بالصارم المسنون والذكر الحكيم

O Guide of the astray to the upright religion

With the drawn sword and the wise remembrance

يا مصطفى لم يدركنه كماله

إلا الذي سماه بالرؤوف الرحيم

O Mustafa, none could attain his perfection

Except the One who named him the Compassionate, the Merciful

يا مطلع الأنوار يا قطب البها

يا مظهر الأسرار يا سر الحكيم

O source of lights, O axis of seas

O manifestation of secrets, O mystery of the Wise

يا نقطة التقسيم يا خط المنى

يا روضة التنعيم يا عين النعيم

O point of division, O path of yearning

O garden of bliss, O spring of delight

يا من زكا فلذاك لم يولد لا

دم مثله وبمثله حوا عقيم

O you whose descendant was purified that he was not born with

A blood like him, and with the like of him Eve grew barren

يا خاتم الإرسال يا مبدا النهى

يا كوكب الإصباح في الليل البهيم

O seal of messengers, O origin of prohibition

O morning planet in the gloomy night

يا مرسلا للخلق قاطبة بما

في الذكر من جاء ومن كاف وميم

O sent to all creation with what is in the Quran

Of promises and warnings and letters Kaf and Meem

يا سلوة المحزون يا برء الضنى

يا منقذ المأسور يا مأوى الهزيم

O solace of the grieved, O remover of misery

O savior of the captive, O refuge of the defeated

أو لست رحمة ربه العظمى التي

عمت جميع الخلق حر أو لئيم

Are you not the great mercy of your Lord that

Encompassed all creation, free or enslaved?

أو لست آية ربه الكبرى التي

بهرت عقول الخلق غمر أو فيهم

Are you not the great sign of your Lord that

Dazzled the minds of creation, immersed or conscious?

أو لست نعمته التي امتدت على

كل العوالم من عليم أو هضيم

Are you not His blessing that spread over

All worlds, of knowers and ignorants?

أو لست من باهى الإله به الملا

وأحله في ذروة الشرف الجسيم

Are you not the one Allah glorified with, so He

Placed him at the peak of mighty honor?

ألست من عزّت به العلياء إذ

أصبحت وسطا جوهر العقد النظيم

Are you not the one the Exalted were honored with when

You became the core jewel of the well-arranged necklace?

أو لست من سبق الورى في جلبة

أمسيت يا مختار فارسها الزعيم

Are you not the one who surpassed mankind, so you

Became, O Chosen One, their leading horseman?

أو لست من قد عز يوم الست

ت وامتطا العلا في ليلة الإسرا الوسيم

Are you not the one who was honored when

You ascended and reached the highest summit in the night of ascension?

أو لست من ركب البراق وقد رقى الس

سبع الطباق وشاهد الوجه الكريم

Are you not the one who mounted Al-Buraq and ascended

The seven heavens and witnessed the Generous Face?

أو لست من قد خص بالرؤيا التي

ما نالها إذ رامها موسى الكليم

Are you not the one graced with the vision

That Musa the Kalim did not attain when seeking it?

أو لست من صلى بأملاك السما

والأنبيا والرسل اللباري العظيم

Are you not the one who prayed with the angels

Of heaven, the prophets, and the noble messengers?

أو لست من نال الذي ما ناله

إلاه في الدارين من فضل عظيم

Are you not the one who gained what none gained

Except Allah in the two abodes of tremendous bounty?

أو لست من داس البساط بنعله

في حضرة التقديس والمجد الصميم

Are you not the one who stepped the Throne’s carpet with his sandal

In the presence of Holiness and Almighty Glory?

أو لست من قرن آسمه مع اسمه

وبعمره قد أقسم البر العظيم

Are you not the one whose name He combined with His

And swore by your life, O Glorious and Kind?

أو لست من ناداه قل يسمع وسل

واشفع تشفع في العصاة من الجحيم

Are you not the one He called, “Say, He hears and accepts,

Intercede and your intercession for sinners will be accepted”?

أو لست من خلق الوجود لأجله

ولأجله أنشأه مولاه الحكيم

Are you not the one the whole universe was created for

And for you the Wise Lord established it?

أو لست من لولاه ما اعتقب الضيا

ولا الظلام ولا الرطيب ولا الهشيم

Are you not the one without whom the guidance would not continue

Nor darkness, moisture, vegetation and fuel?

أو لست من لولاه ما كان الوها

د ولا السماء ولا النعيم والا الجحيم

Are you not the one without whom there would be no True God

Nor heaven, nor paradise, nor hellfire?

أو لست من لولاه ما كان العلا

والعرش والكرسي واللوح الرقيم

Are you not the one without whom there would be no Throne

Nor Chair, nor Preserved Tablet?

أو لست من لولاه ما هام السرى

إذ زمزم الحادي بزمزم والحطيم

Are you not the one without whom the Lote-Tree would not be frequented

When the Caller calls to prayer by its side and the Shatterer?

أو لست من لاذ به الإرسال وال

أملاك يوم العرض والهول العظيم

Are you not the one messengers, angels, and prophets sought refuge with

On the Day of Review and Great Terror?

أو لست من حاز الشفاعة في غد

عند الكريم المقسط الحكم الحكيم

Are you not the one granted intercession

Before the Just Arbiter, the All-Wise Judge on the Day of Reckoning?

أو لست من قال الإله لنوره

كن يا حبيب فكنت محبوب الكريم

Are you not the one whose light Allah said to,

“Be,” and you became the Beloved of the Generous?

فتولني يا خير من سن الهدى

ودعا الأنام إلى الصراط المستقيم

Take me as a guide, O best one who established guidance

And called people to the Straight Path.

وقني مصاب الدين والرمد الذي

أهمى بصائب سهمه قلبي السليم

And protect me from the adversities of religion and the ailment

That has blinded my heart’s insights with its piercing arrows.

أو لسيت من نجى عليا إذ اشتكى

من حادث الرمد الملم به الأليم

Are you not the one who saved Ali when he complained

Of the pain of ailment that afflicted him?

أو لست من أرجعت عين قتادة

من بعد قلع يا شفا الداء السقيم

Are you not the one who restored the sight of Qatadah

After his eye was gouged out, O Healer of the sick?

أو لست من جل العمى وروى الظما

ونفى الطوى وكفى الأذى وشفى السقيم

Are you not the one who removed blindness, quenched thirst,

Banished hunger, healed sickness and cured the sick?

إني قصدتك يا حبيب ومن يلذ

بحماك كيف يخاف عادية المقيم

I came seeking you, O Beloved, and who would

Fear enemies in your precincts?

وأتيت ملتمسا بشفاعتك التي

حكمت بإنقاذ العصاة من الجحيم

I came asking for your intercession, which

You stated will save sinners from hellfire.

أو ليس قلت شفاعتي أعددتها

لذوي الكبائر يوم يغدو الخلق هيم

Did you not say your intercession is prepared

For those with major sins on the Day people will be terrified?

فاشفع بجاهك لي وإن أسرفت في

فعل القبيح فأنت ذو جاه عظيم

So intercede for me through your status even if

I committed vile deeds, for you possess tremendous prestige.

فلقد أويت إلى حماك فرقني

صرح الحمى المحفوف بالكهف الرقيم

I sought refuge in your sanctuary, so separate me

From the heat of Hellfire surrounded by the Cave of Al-Hira.

وخدمت مدحك فأجرني يا سيدي

فمن المكارم جائزة حسن الخديم

I served praising you, so reward me, my Master,

For it is customary to reward servants who serve beautifully.

ومن الموفّى بامتداحك والذي

أحياك قد حياك في الذكر الحكيم

One who fulfills praising you and brought

You to life in the wise remembrance has given you life.

أو من يفي بعظيم قدرك بعدما

أثنى عليك الله بالخلق العظيم

After Allah praised you with creating the great universe,

Who can fulfill your great status?

لكنني وأنا المقصر لم أزل

أدلي بتطفيل على باب كريم

Yet I, though falling short, did not cease

Begging at the door of the Generous.

وأهيم في وادي جلاك وإنه

واد بسفه من يراه ولا يهيم

I roamed in the valley of your majesty; indeed

It is a magnificent valley that dazzles the roamer's eyes.

وأجيل طرف المدح فيك ولم أدن

ألا لحبك في الحديث وفي القديم

I unsheathed the sword of praise for you, but did not come close

Except for love of you, anciently and presently.

لأكون في دنياي من أهل التقى

وأكون في أخرايَ من أهل النعيم

To be among the people of piety in my worldly life

And to be among the people of Paradise in my final abode

يا رب يا ذو الجود يا مولى الجدا

حسبي من التسآل أنك بي عليم

O Lord, O Possessor of Bounty, O Master of Splendor

It suffices me to know that you know of my pleading.

ولئن سألت فأنت أنت المرتجي

ولئن شكوت فأنت للشاكي رحيم

If I beseeched, then you are the hoped for

And if I complained, then you are Merciful to the complainant.

يا ير يا رحمن يا حنان يا

منان يا ذا الطول والمن الجسيم

O Lord, O Merciful, O Loving, O Beneficent

O Forbearing, O Owner of Tremendous Favor and Bounty

يا أول يا آخر يا ظاهر

يا باطن يا ذا الإغاثة يا كريم

O First, O Last, O Apparent, O Hidden

O Responder to distress, O Bountiful

يا مؤنسي في وحدتي يا عدّتي

في شدّتي يا أمن خوفي يا حطيم

O my comforter in solitude, O my support in adversity

O security from my fear, O breaker of tyranny

يا حي يا قيوم يا الله يا

من جل عن زاء وعن واو وجيم

O Living, O Eternal, O God

O Exalted above association with Alif, Waw or Jeem

يا فرد يا من عز عن ولد ووا

لد أو مشير أو وزير أو قسيم

O Singular, O Self-Sufficient, unbegotten, without child

Or associate, minister, or equal

يا من تعالى مجده عن مشبه

أو مقعد لعلا علاه أو مقيم

O You whose glory transcended depictions

Or assignation of limits, or inhabitation of place

يا من على العرش استوى بترفع

قد حار فيه كل ذي لب سليم

O You who transcended on the Throne loftily

Every possessor of an intact mind was perplexed by it

يا من على العرش استوى بترفع

قد حار فيه كل ذي لب سليم

O Encompasser of sovereignty and its contents

However and wherever, O All-Knowing, All-Wise

يا من على الملك احتوى وأحاطه

كما وكيفا يا عليم يا حكيم

O Splitter of dawn, O Sender of night

O Sender of rain, O Guide of breezes

يا فالق الاصباح يا مرسي الدجى

يا مرسل الأمطار يا مجري النسيم

O Originator of creation without fatigue

Or example, O Innovator, O Eternal

يا مبدع الكوان من غير احتيا

ج أو مثال يا بديع يا قديم

O Maker of things from nothingness as You willed

Straight or crooked, healthy or sick

يا موجد الأشياء من عدم كما

قد شاء من معوج أو من سقيم

O Perfect Fashioner in the darkness of wombs

Of a wonderful creation from minor or major

يا محكم التصوير في ظلم الحشا

خلقا وخلقا من جليل أو ذميم

O Giver of life to man then Causer of his death

And Returner after he turns decayed and ruined

يا محيي الانسان ثم مميته

ومعيده من بعد ما يمسي رميم

O Hearer of the distant cry and Knower

Of the secret and Illustrator of the perplexed matter

يا سامع الصوت القصي وعال

م السر الخفي وموضح الأمر البهيم

O Seer of what is beneath the layers of soil

Of laughing delightedly or frowning gloomily

يا من يرى ما تحت أطباق الثرى

من ضاحك مستبشر أو من كظيم

O Counter of breaths from humans, jinn,

Noble angels or vile beasts

يا من يدل النملة السوداء فو

ق الصخر تحت الأرض في الليل البهيم

O Savior of the desperate, O Responder to calls

O Refuge of the distressed, O Wealth of the destitute

يا محصي الأنفاس من أنس ومن

جن أو من ملك كريم أو بهيم

O Reliever of the anxious heart, O Concealer

Of foul deeds, O Remover of endless sorrows

يا منجي المعتر يا غوث الندا

يا ملجأ المضطر يا ذخر العديم

O Enricher of the poor, O Sufficer of the old

O Sponsor of the orphan and Protecting Friend of the widow

يا صارف الداء الملم وضامن الرزق

المهم ومحيي العظم الرميم

O Sender of the Quran so we seek guidance

And Sender of messengers so we stay straight

يا راحم القلب القريح وساتر

الفعل القبيح وكاشف الكرب المقيم

O Creator of people's deeds, and Who destined

Either Paradise or Hellfire for them

ومغنى العافي الفقير وكافي الشيخ

الكبير وكافل الطفل اليتيم

If no one hopes in You but the obedient

Then who can the evildoer rely on?

يا منزل القرآن كيما نستمد

ومرسل الإرسال كيما نستقيم

O Lord, do You not respond except to the good doer?

Then who responds to wrongdoing, O Bountiful?

يا خالق أفعال العباد ومن قضى

حتما عليهم بالنعيم أو الجحيم

So through Ahmad's status, do not disappoint me, and

Favor me with pardon, forgiveness and ample bounty

إن كان لا يرجوك إلا طائع

فمن الذي يرجفوه ذو الفعل الذميم

Forgive my sins, allow me my hopes

Conceal my faults, and spare me the Hellfire

أو لم تجب يا رب إلا محسنا

فمن المجيب لدى الإساءة يا كريم

Restrain the injustice of the oppressors against me, and protect me

From the tribulation of desires and the scheming of the cursed Devil

فبجاه أحمد لا تخيبني وجد

بالعفو والغفران والفضل العميم

Remove the veil from my sight, and save me from the harm

Of the pain of painful ailment

واغفر ذنوبي وآولني ما أرتجي

واستر عيوبي واكفني حر الجحيم

Take care of my five senses, and preserve my health

As long as I remain travelling in the transient world

واكفف أكفّ البغي عنّي واحمني

من محنة الأهوا ومن كيد الرجيم

And prevent me at my journey’s end to the eternal abode

From stopping at an evil watering hole or miserable resting place

وأزج غشا بصري وجنبني أذى

ألم ألمّ لمؤلم المرمد الأليم

Enlighten my heart with the light of knowledge and let

My tongue habitually recite the Wise Remembrance

واكلا حواسي الخمس واحفظ صحتي

ما دمت بالترحال في الدنيا مقيم

Let me visit the standing place of Abraham and cherished

Zamzam, the Stone, the Majestic House and the Shatterer

وامنعن في سفري إلى دار البقا

من مورد موب ومن مرعى وخيم

Allow me a blessed visit to perfume my soul

With the fragrant breezes of its pleasant valley

وأنر بنور العلم قلبي وآجرا

له منطقي بتلاوة الذكر الحكيم

Show me the clear signs illustrating the one who perceives

The glistening hints of precise meanings

وآمنن بعود للمقام وزمزم

والحجر والبيت المعظم والحطيم

Let me glance in Al-Baqi and excellent indeed

Is a garden that delights the eyes at its beautiful season

واسمح بزوة طيبة لتطيب أنفاسي

بنشق عبير واديها الشبيم

Let me witness the grave wherein

The ornaments of the purest listener or Kalim were scattered

وأري المغاني الموضحات لمن يرى

غررا المعاني البارقات لمن يشيم

Forgive the grievous sins through the guide, and who

Forgives grievous sins other than the Tremendous?

وأجيل طرفي في البقيع وحبذا

روض يروق العين موسمه الوسيم

Give victory to the Leader of the Faithful, and be

His defender, cutting off the hand of the wicked aggressor

وأشاهد القبر الذي في طيه

نشرت حلى أزكى سميع أو كليم

Protect the Heir, and grant him acceptance

And protect him from the plots of every spiteful enemy

واغفر عظيم الذنب بالهادي وهل

يعفو عن الذنب العظيم سوى العظيم

Guard the Protectors of the religion, and grant victory between them

Against the armies of enemies with darkened faces

وانصر أمير المؤمنين وكن له

واكفف بصارمه يد الباغي الزنيم

Forgive my parents, my teachers, and bestow

With your forbearing patience, O Forbearing, abundant forgiveness upon Muslims

واحفظ ولي العهد وامنحه الرضا

وقه مكائد كل ذي حسد أثيم

Reward my children, siblings, and acquaintances

From every terror followed by the letter Meem

واحرس حماة الدين وافر بينهم

مسودّ تضليل العدا قري الأديم

I asked You, O Merciful, by his status

While knowing You are Mercifully Caring of me

واغفر لآبائي وأشياخي وجد

للمسلمين بجود حلمك يا حليم

And by him I sought You, O Bountiful, and does one

Seeing graciousness between intercessor and Bountiful?

وأجر بني وإخوتي ومعارفي

من كل هاء تلاها حرف ميم

So respond to my call, O Responder, as You answered

The she-camel's pleading though she was a surly, untamed beast

إني سألتك يا رحيم بجاهه

علما بأنك مهيمن بي رحيم

And conclude the son of Khalluf with good

On the day when intimate cannot avail intimate

وبه قصدتك يا كريم وهل يرى

ذو حنّية بين المشفع والكريم

And perpetuate Your prayers and peace upon him as long

As You remain, O Eternal and Everlasting

فاجب دعائي يا مجيب بسر من

أنجى البعير وخاطبته ظبا الصريم

And upon all prophets, messengers

The honored angels, possessors of pride and lasting glory

واحسن ختام ابن الخلوف وكن له

في يوم لا يغنى حميم عن حميم

And the Family, all the Companions

And those who followed them upon the straight path

وأدم صلاتك والسلام عليه ما

دام البقاء لوجهك الباقي القديم

As long as the dawn caller calls upon his Lord

Seeking bounty from the abundant, copious favor

وعلى جميع الأنبياء والرسل

والأملاك أهل الفخر والمجد الصميم

وعلى القرابة والصحابة كلهم

والتابعين لهم على النهج القويم

ما قام في الأسحار يسأل ربه

مستوهب من فائض الفضل العميم
