He smiled with the fragrance of a scented flower,
And shone with the radiance of a glowing moon.
And grew a rose on his burning cheeks,
How can a rose grow in intense heat?
The rose on his cheek reminded us
Of Al-Harithi's gatherings.
The branch watched over his two sleeves,
Such is the care of a peer.
How lively are the eyes of a gazelle
To slay me, while deemed weak.
It knows not what I suffer in the dark,
Its glances though ascribed to awareness.
