وَبِي رَشَأ هِلاَلِيُّ المُحَيَّا
سَبَى قَلْبِي بِطَرْفٍ بَابِلِيِّ
My crescent-shaped idol with his smiling cheeks
Has captured my heart with a Babylonian glance,
تَمَسَّكَ مَاءُ وَرْدِ الخَدّ مِنْهُ
بِمِسْكَةِ خَالِهِ النَّدّ النَّدِيِّ
The water of his rosy cheek clung
To the charm of his delicate, yet firm neck.
وَنَمَّ بِرَوْضِ وَجْنَتِهِ عِذَارٌ
أرَى الرَّيْحَانَ في الوَرْدِ الجَنِيِّ
In the garden of his cheek blooms a rose,
I see the basil in his flowery cheeks.
