كَأنَّهَا النَّرْجِسُ الغَضُّ الجُفُونِ وَقَدْ
رَشَّ الرذَاذُ مُحَيَّاهُ وَحَيَّاهُ
Like a narcissus with eyes cast down, sprinkled
With dewdrops that give it life and water it,
زَبَرْجَدٌ تَحْتَ دُرّ فَرْقَهُ ذَهَبٌ
يَلَذُّ لِلْعَيْنِ رُؤْيَاهُ وَرَيَّاهُ
Emerald under a pearl tiara, gold that delights
The eye with its splendor and radiance,
أوْ أعْيُنُ التُّرْكِ قَدْ رُشَّتْ مَعَاطِفُهَا
بِسُنْدُسٍ صَاغَهُ البَارِي وَسَوَّاهُ
Or Turkish eyes whose robes have been embroidered
With silk crafted by the Creator and perfected.
