كنّا جميعاً ثمّ فرّق بيننا

قَدَرٌ إذا ما كفّ صمّ وصمّما

We were all together, then fate separated us

An inevitable destiny, if it stops being deaf and obstinate

فارقْتُ منه طِيبَ عيشي كلَّه

ورُزِئْتُهُ فرُزِئْتُ منه الأنعما

I lost all my good life from it

And I resented it, so I resented the favors from it

وحملتُ كلَّ عظيمةٍ من بعدها

خُولِسْتُ مَن كان الأجلَّ الأعظما

And I carried every great misfortune after it

I was weakened, who had the greatest term

وكأنّني من بعد أنْ فارقتُه

كفٌّ يفارق ساعداً أو مِعصما

And it was as if after I left it

A palm separated from a forearm or a wrist

ما نلتقي من بعد أن صار الثّرى

مَثْواك إلّا أنْ أعوج مسلِّما

We will not meet after the soil

Became your burial place unless I deviate, conceding

والوصلُ كان محلَّلاً حتّى اِهتدتْ

طُرُقاته البَلْوى فصار محرّما

And the connection was dissolved until its

Ways to torment were forbidden, so it became prohibited

وعليك من ربّ السلام تحيّة

وسقاك منحلّ العَزالِي مفعما

And peace be upon you from the Lord

And may the secluded valleys quench your thirst

وعليَّ إهداءُ المراثي شُرَّداً

في كلّ يومٍ عشتُهُ متكلّما

And upon me, reciting the eulogies dispersed

Every day I lived speaking
